ANSTI Diaspora Grants
The challenges facing higher education in the region are exacerbated by loss through attrition of its manpower, a process commonly known as brain drain. Such outflow of human capital has serious impact on national development efforts and capacity of higher institutions to fulfill their missions.

Although many of the strategies to contain the migration of human resources may be outside the mandate of ANSTI, it can however, lead other networks and agencies in identifying opportunities for tapping into the skills of the members of the Diaspora. This, ANSTI believes goes a long way in slowing down the effect of this threat. To this end, ANSTI introduced the Diaspora Grant to tap into the talent of African Scientists working outside the continent.

Eligibility
African scientists working in the Diaspora (outside Africa) should apply for the above award. The award is offered to scientists who wish to attend scientific thematic conferences and workshops in Africa. Students studying outside the African continent do NOT qualify. The award (Max $2500) will cover the cost of air ticket, accommodation and a subsistence allowance for the duration of the conference.
    The Applications should include the following documents:
  • Letter of invitation from the conference organizers
  • A letter accepting the paper to be presented
  • Curriculum vitae;
  • Abstract of the Paper to be presented
  • A budget breakdown of expected expenses; and
  • Conference Programme showing your presentation slot.

Women scientists working in the Diaspora are particularly encouraged to apply
